Topigs Norsvin Canada Welcomes Pieter Van Den Boogaard to Business Development Team

Topigs Norsvin Canada Inc., a leading swine genetics supplier, has announced the appointment of Pieter Van Den Boogaard as Business Development Representative. Pieter joined the company’s Eastern Canada Business Development Team on November 18, 2024, bringing valuable expertise and hands-on experience to the role.

Raised on a commercial farrow-to-finish hog farm near Gorrie, Ontario, Pieter has been deeply involved in farm management since completing his education at F.E. Madill Secondary School in 2023. His practical experience with Topigs Norsvin’s genetic programs, gilt development, and production management equips him to provide strategic support to the company’s customers.

As more hay and pastureland is turned over to crop production, wildlife habitat becomes increasingly fragmented, leaving isolated “islands” of grass that may be too small to sustain functioning grassland ecosystems. We explore research using Alberta as a case study to understand the impact that conversion of hay and pasturelands into cropland could have on ecosystem intactness and biodiversity.
