What Farmers Need To Know To Safely Refuel In The Field

What farmers are putting in their tank isn’t their same old diesel fuel anymore.

In recent years, EPA imposed emission regulations triggered a change in diesel fuel composition.

Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) poses a greater static ignition hazard than earlier diesel formulations with a higher sulfur content. AEM invites you to join us in sharing this safety message about the potential hazards of ULSD when refueling.

Most farmers, busy in the fields, are unaware of the hazard. Static charges can build up in diesel fuel delivery systems. A small spark can ignite the combustible vapors and result in fire or explosion. Proper bonding and grounding of the complete fuel delivery system is important during refueling.
