Saskatchewan farmers interested in, or who know someone who is interested in serving on industry group boards only have a few days left to put names forward.

The Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission (Sask Wheat) has four vacancies on its seven-member board.

The Saskatchewan Barley Development Commission (SaskBarley) is looking to fill three director spots on its five-person board of directors.

The deadline for each organization to receive nominations is Sept. 6 at noon.

If there are more nominations than director positions available, elections will take place between Oct. 19 and Nov. 29.

“As a director, you will have the chance to have a voice in the industry, and to help advance and advocate for wheat profitability in Saskatchewan,” Sask Wheat’s website says.

Directors on each board are elected for a four-year term.

To be eligible, nominees must have had a Sask Wheat or SaskBarley check-off deducted since Aug. 1, 2021, and have not requested or received a check-off refund in the last fiscal year (Aug. 1, 2022, to July 31, 2023).

Nominees must complete nomination forms prior to the deadline.

A nomination form must include the candidate’s name and contact information, a 350-word biography, and support from at least four other farmers.
