Titan International unveiled what’s considered the world’s largest farm tire – the Goodyear LSW1400/30R46, at the 2016 Farm Progress Show.

The tire will be part of Goodyear’s Extreme Flotation line with Low Sidewall Technology (LSW).

It acts as an alternative to tracks or conventional dual settings on large 4WD tractors and its 1400mm section can give farmers better flotation, traction and ride quality.

“If a grower isn’t running between rows post-emergence, there’s really no reason to be running a dual configuration on any of their tractors, whether it is a MFWD or a 4WD,” Scott Sloan, agricultural product manager for Titan and Goodyear Farm Tires said in a release. “In fact, they could be causing unnecessary soil compaction by doing so.”

The tires are specially designed to for high-horsepower 4WD tractors including the John Deere 9000-series or Case Steigers.

Sloan said previous success led to the development of tires specifically for 4WD tractors.

“We’ve seen a lot of success bringing this concept into MFWD tractors and combines, but our customers wanted an option for 4WD tractors – and that’s why we’re introducing the largest farm tire in the world, which will be coming available by the second quarter of 2017,” he said.
