The Lone Star State’s farm cash receipts were $24.7 billion in 2014, led by the state’s cotton production which reached nearly $2 billion. Corn and hay also played a large role in the state’s agricultural success as farmers produced around $1 billion worth of each commodity. There are more than 245,000 farms in Texas, occupying a total of 130 million acres.
