2016 Census of Agriculture is Coming

In early May growers will receive a letter with instructions on how to complete the 2016 Census of Agriculture

Canadian farm operators will have the chance to take part in a national dialogue by completing the Census of Agriculture questionnaire.

The Census of Agriculture is the definitive source of community-level data. By drawing on these data, decision makers will know that they are acting in the interests of farmers, farm communities and agricultural operations across Canada. It can be completed by anyone who is responsible for, or knowledgeable about, the day-to-day management decisions of your farming operation.

For over two decades, Dr. Mitloehner has been at the forefront of research on how animal agriculture affects our air and our climate. With deep expertise in emissions and volatile organic compounds, his work initially focused on air quality in regions like California’s Central Valley—home to both the nation’s richest agricultural output and some of its poorest air quality.

In recent years, methane has taken center stage in climate discourse—not just scientifically, but politically. Once a topic reserved for technical discussions about manure management and feed efficiency, it has become a flashpoint in debates over sustainability, regulation, and even the legitimacy of livestock farming itself.
