CFO Donates to Sounds of the Season

TORONTO, ON – Ed Benjamins, Chair of Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO) was on air live with Gill Deacon, host of CBC’s ‘Here and Now’, to present a donation for $10,000 to the Daily Bread Food Bank.

The donation was made as part of CFO’s corporate social responsibility program called CFO Cares: Farmers to Food Banks. The program enables chicken farmers to donate fresh, nutritious, locally-grown chicken to food banks across the province.

This year alone, 500 farm families have donated, providing a total of 1.5 million meals of chicken to people in need.

“Chicken farmers are proud community members. We’re volunteers, coaches, community leaders, and we take a lot of pride in helping our neighbours and giving what we can, when we can,” said Ed Benjamins, Chair of Chicken Farmers of Ontario. “On behalf of Chicken Farmers of Ontario and our 1,300 family-run farms across the province, I am pleased to make this donation of $10,000 to the Daily Bread Food Bank, as part of CBC’s Sounds of the Season fundraiser.”

Started in 2015, the CFO Cares: Farmers to Food Banks program has led to 4 million meals of fresh, nutritious, locally-grown chicken donated to local food banks across Ontario.

“Our mission is to build value and shape the future, together with our farmer-members and by demonstrating leadership through our corporate social responsibility programs,” said Rob Dougans, President & CEO of Chicken Farmers of Ontario. “Momentum for the CFO Cares: Farmers to Food Banks Program continues to grow, and we strive to take our efforts to combat hunger to the next level.”
