Seth Holmstrom: A South Dakota Master Pork Producer

A standout star at PIPESTONE is Seth Holmstrom, who serves as the Manager for Elm Valley Farms. Starting as a Pipestone Emerging Leader in November 2018, Seth honed his skills at Big Sioux before landing the role of Site Manager at Elm Valley in March 2019. Since then, he’s been leading with passion, dedication, and a knack for bringing out the best in people. Seth was recently honored as a 2023 Master Pork Producer at the 55th Annual South Dakota Pork Congress last month for his outstanding contributions to the state’s swine industry.

In 2023, Seth and his team at Elm Valley Farms achieved some remarkable milestones. Their farm consistently ranked among the top producers within Pipestone Management, a testament to Seth’s leadership and the hard work of his team. Notably, Elm Valley stood out as one of the top three farms at Pipestone Management this year for gilt performance, showcasing their attention to detail in every aspect of their operation.

But it’s not just about the numbers for Seth. VP of Production for the West Region, Pedro Bordes noted, “One of his greatest strengths lies in his ability to develop future leaders.” Over the past five years, Seth has promoted 14 employees into various leadership roles within the farm. That’s not just building a team; that’s building a family of leaders ready to take on new challenges.

Human Resources Director, Rochelle Remund shares, “Seth’s farm boasts an incredible 0% turnover rate over the last 12-month period!” Seth isn’t just a manager; he’s a mentor, a coach, and a friend. With 16 full-time employees under his wing, Seth leads by example, cultivating a culture built on our core values and inspiring his team to reach their full potential.

Join us in congratulating Seth – a champion of pigs and people at PIPESTONE.
