Upcoming weather patterns could affect Saskatchewan grain prices

A grain market analyst says weather will play a key factor in grain prices in Saskatchewan over the next few months.

Jon Driedger with FarmLink Marketing Solutions says wheat and canola prices will likely move sideways if weather is relatively normal.

But he says dry weather could push markets upward.

“For example, if it stays dry and warm, you sort of build up some premium and all of a sudden, you get just enough showers and you alleviate that and all of a sudden, that premium is disappearing very quickly,” said Driedger. “On the other side, if you don’t get those showers or that moisture, it kinds is a bit of a dimmer and it start to maybe get some legs to it.”
