Western Canadian Wheat Growers supports Saskatchewan Climate Change Strategy

The Western Canadian Wheat Growers are pleased to offer their support to the Saskatchewan Government’s Climate Change Strategy.  “The farming community has long been supportive of conservationist actions, our livelihood depends upon clean air, water and soil as we grow the food to feed the world” stated Levi Wood, President.
The Wheat Growers have spoken out against a punitive carbon tax through over 100 media interviews, talking about how damaging this would be against the farming industry.  The Wheat Growers have circulated a petition (http://carbontax.wheatgrowers.ca/) that has been signed by hundreds of farmers opposing a carbon tax.

The federal government needs to realize what a terrible impact their plan will have on farming and the entire agriculture value chain in Canada.  To their plan the Wheat Growers say NO to a carbon tax on farming and food.

The Wheat Growers support sustainable agricultural policies that ensure the resource base is maintained for future generations of farmers.

“The Wheat Growers are pleased to support the Saskatchewan Climate Change Strategy.  This is a reasonable approach that other provinces and the federal government should follow,” stated Jim Wickett, Chair.
