Cattlemen’s Young Leaders Program Announces Mentorship Winners

CYL Selects 16 Recipients for Mentorship Program

The Cattlemen’s Young Leaders (CYL) program announced on Tuesday that it selected 16 recipients from across Canada for its 2013 program.

The winners were chosen from a group of semi-finalists who were then selected to participate in the CYL Spring Forum in Ottawa during the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association (CCA) AGM.

“The CYL program offers unique industry experiences and the opportunity to learn from seasoned mentors, teachings that these future leaders will ultimately draw on years from now to help shape the future of Canada’s cattle industry,” Rob Somerville, CCA director and CYL committee member said in a press release.

The CYL recipients get partnered up with a mentor for eight months to provide industry-specific training, while fostering professional development skills.

The program runs on industry sponsors including: UFA Co-operative Ltd., the Alberta Livestock and Meat Agency (ALMA), Cargill, Farm Credit Canada and the Canadian Cattlemen’s Magazine.

Saskatchewan: Carla Schmitt, Kelcy Elford, Lance Leachman
