List of January meetings for Nevada Department of Agriculture

Meetings start January 15 and proceed to the end of the month

Agriculture professionals and enthusiasts around Nevada with an interest small farms, small businesses or pest control will have opportunities to learn and express their thoughts on these issues in the Silver State.

Thursday, January 15
Small Business Impact Workshop
Between the hours of 10a.m. and 2p.m., small business owners can find out what impacts NAC 565.210 could have on their operations if the proposed amendment does pass. The workshop will take place at the Nevada Department of Agriculture, 405 South 21st Street, Sparks, NV 89431.

Thursday, January 22
Nevada Small Farm Conference (Pre-conference workshops)
Before the actual conference starts on Friday, January 23rd, there will be four workshops for participants to attend in preparation for the two-day event. The workshop topics include Farm 2 Glass which focuses on local breweries and distilleries, Hoop House Production that will tour the UNR High Desert Farm Initiative, maximizing visibility with social media, and organic certification stories. People interested must register for the two-day Small Farm Conference to take part in the pre-conference workshops. Participants must also provide their own transportation.

Friday, January 23 – Saturday, January 24
Nevada Small Farm Conference
This year’s theme is “Nevada, We’re Growing Things Here!” A list of speakers including Jim Barbee from the Nevada Department of Agriculture, Neil Bertrando of RT Permaculture, and Shelly Goodin from New Harvest Farm will take part in Nevada’s premier gathering of farmers, ranchers, and their supporters.  It will be held at John Ascuaga’s Nugget, 1100 Nugget Ave., Sparks, NV 89431.

Friday, January 30
Nevada Pest Control Expo
Over 100 members including Annko Pest Control, Bee Master of Las Vegas, ProChem Pest Solitions, and Top Line Eliminators Inc. come together to discuss the newest innovations and technologies for controlling pests. Participants can also earn six CEU units valid in Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah. It is being held at The Orleans Hotel & Casino, 4500 W Tropicana Ave., Las Vegas, NV, 89103.
