Yorkton-Area Farmers See ‘Relatively Good’ Crop Production

Combining has reached 80 percent in the parkland region around Yorkton and crop production is relatively good.

The regional crop specialist in Yorkton, Lyndon Hicks, says most farmers are pleasantly surprised with crop yields, and, quality is better than last year.

He says recent rain will delay combining but is welcome.

“We didn’t get as much moisture as other parts of the province. But we got enough,” Hicks said. “Most people are welcoming a bit of moisture. Hopefully it dries out so we can get the rest of this harvest done.”
