In 2004, scientists unearthed a 4,000-year-old bowl of noodles in China. The noodles were long, thin and yellow. They were found inside a sealed bowl buried under 10 feet (three meters) of sediment.

The noodles were made from broomcorn millet and foxtail millet. Whomever made the noodles ground the grain into flour to make the dough before stretching the noodles to shape, the scientists determined.
