Farmers in need of rain

Saskatchewan crops received much-needed moisture this week but analysts say more rain will be needed.

Provincial crops analyst Shannon Friesen says the grainbelt received from a trace to over an inch of rain this week.

But she said hot, dry weather means the farmland is drying out quickly and crops need more moisture.

“They really do. We’ve unfortunately have had too many weeks of warm temperatures and strong winds with no moisture. The top soil is drying out. We are hopefuly that we continue to get timely rainfall to replenish some of that soil.”
