Corn planting in Nebraska was 88% complete, near last year's 86% and equal to the five-year average, according to USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service report for the week ending May 20. Emerged was 53%, near last year's 49% and ahead of the 48% five-year average.
Soybean planting was 68% done, ahead of 50% last year and the average of 51%. Emerged was 25%, ahead of 12% for both last year and the average.
Winter wheat condition rated 1% very poor, 6% poor, 31% fair, 51% good, and 11% excellent. Winter wheat headed was 4%, well behind 57% last year and the average of 29%.
Sorghum planted was at 31% complete, ahead of 17% last year and near the five-year average of 27%.
Oats condition rated 1% very poor, 3% poor, 20% fair, 72% good, and 4% excellent. Ninety-five percent of the crop had been planted, near last year's 99% and the average of 98%. Emerged was 86%, behind 96% last year and the average of 91%. Headed was 1%, near 5% last year and the average of 3%.
Pasture and range conditions rated 3% very poor, 11% poor, 31% fair, 46% good, and 9% excellent.
