BASF Agricultural Solutions Canada celebrates five years of its Safety Scouts program.
BASF Agricultural Solutions Canada is celebrating five years of the BASF Safety Scouts program, an initiative designed to help farm families teach children about farm safety in a fun and engaging way.
Since its launch in 2021, the program has supported safe learning by providing free educational safety kits to families across Canada. This year marks a major milestone, with 10,000 safety kits distributed since the program began.
The BASF Safety Scouts program focuses on building early awareness of farm safety by offering age‑appropriate resources for children. The kits help young learners understand everyday farm risks and encourage smart decision‑making in farm environments. By making safety education interactive, BASF aims to support safer and healthier farming communities.
“Reaching this five-year milestone of BASF Safety Scouts is an incredible achievement, and its popularity reflects the importance of engaging kids in farm safety conversations,” said Tabetha Boot, Head of Communications and Industry Relations for BASF Agricultural Solutions Canada.
“By giving kids the knowledge and confidence to recognize risks and make safe choices, we’re helping to build stronger, safer farming communities for generations to come,” said Boot.
As part of its fifth‑year celebrations, BASF is also the presenting sponsor of Kids FarmSafe Week, organized by the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association. The annual awareness week, held from May 11 to 17, highlights preventable farm safety risks and encourages families to make safety a daily priority.
“Kids FarmSafe Week has played an important role in providing the tools needed to make farm safety a priority for the whole family,” said Sandra Miller, Executive Director, CASA. “Support from partners like BASF makes it possible for us to continue our mission of promoting a culture of agricultural safety in Canada.”
During Kids FarmSafe Week, BASF is supporting an educational webinar titled “Raising Kids, Raising Awareness: A Farm Safety Discussion.” The session features Olympian and farm parent Kaitlyn Lawes and focuses on the responsibilities farm families face when balancing work, safety, and family life. It will be held on May 14, click here to reserve a spot for the Raising Kids, Raising Awareness: A Farm Safety Discussion.
Each year, BASF offers Safety Scout kits for children aged three to six and Safety Captain kits for children over six. These kits include child‑sized safety vests, activity booklets, certificates, stickers, and other learning materials. Farm families can order the kits online or through their BASF representative.
